Kadima Associate Medical Director

Arvin Mirow
MD

My interest in mental health started when I worked as a volunteer on a crisis telephone hotline in Boston, and further developed later when I worked as a Mental Health Worker at a large state psychiatric hospital in Boston and a Sleep Lab Technician at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York.

Because of my interest in mental health, I went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan, and an M.D. from the Sackler Faculty of Medicine at Tel-Aviv University in Israel. I did my Psychiatry residency training at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. I then did a Fellowship in Clinical Psychopharmacology and Psychobiology at the University of California, San Diego and a Psychiatry Research Fellowship at the San Diego Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Later while in private practice, I earned a Graduate Certificate in Biomedical Informatics from the Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU).

I am Board Certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and in addition have subspecialty certification in both Geriatric Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry.

I worked in private practice for 23 years in behavioral health medical groups, including over 20 years at Psychiatric Centers at San Diego (PCSD), where I served on the Board of Directors. In my outpatient practice I treated adult and geriatric patients, with an emphasis on mood disorders. I later worked at Scripps Clinic seeing primarily geriatric patients. I’ve also been a Medical Director in various inpatient and outpatient behavioral health settings.

I’ve always had a strong interest in cutting-edge treatments in Psychiatry. This has led me to develop extensive experience conducting clinical trials of investigational psychiatric medications, devices, and digital apps as a Principal Investigator and Sub-Investigator. I’ve been administering Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) treatments for depression and other psychiatric disorders since 2015, and completed a Mini-Fellowship in TMS at Duke University.

Because of my interest in new and better treatments for psychiatric disorders, I was excited to join the Kadima Neuropsychiatry Institute in 2019 and am now the Associate Medical Director. My duties include administering ketamine and Spravato treatments, conducting clinical trials (including of new psychedelic medications), performing TMS, and doing administrative work.

I have been elected as a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. I also am a member of the San Diego Psychiatric Society, the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology, and the American Society of Ketamine Physicians, Psychotherapists, and Practitioners.

My mission and passion at Kadima is to facilitate our patients’ healing journey by engaging our team’s deep knowledge, experience, and expertise in providing cutting-edge mental health treatments in the most effective and compassionate way possible. We are here to serve you!
